Safety Instructions for Using Coil Nailers

While price is basically one of, if not, the most important considerations in buying coil nailers, safety is basically something that had escaped your mind – especially when you are already in the counter. But how important is the safety feature of coil nailers? We all know that accidents from using nailers come from mishaps of shooting nails or misfire, something that could lead to serious injury when you are using a giant that is coil nailers. Here’s a list of safety guidelines that you should keep in mind in using this power tool.

Use eye protection. Coil nailers are simply the main man of all power tools. You use this nailer when you are on a bog project, like building your dream cabin or a deck. And, with these projects come potential hazards that could result to serious injuries. So aside from your protection gear, wearing eye protection that conforms to the guidelines set by the American National Standards Institute. In this way, you could protect your eyes from flying particles that could come from just about anywhere from your work area.

Keep away from bottled gases. Use the power source according to the manual that comes with your particular brand. But whatever brand that you may end up using, make sure that you steer away from combustible gases, oxygen, or just about any bottled gas in firing your nailer. Using these types of power source is dangerous and could potentially lead to an explosion. General rule when using pneumatic nailer: use only regulated, clean, and dry compressed air.

Do not go beyond 120 psi. Connecting your nailer to a pressure that exceeds 200 psi is dangerous. Maintain and do not exceed the recommended air pressure that is detailed in the product manual.

Never point the nailer to anyone or toward yourself. One thing that you should always assume in using coil nailers is that it is always loaded and contains fastener.

Never carry the framing nailer with the trigger. The handle is there for a purpose, use it; never carry the nailer with its trigger as you could unintentionally injure someone else. Remove any finger from the trigger when you are not using the tool, or, in particular, driving a fastener in the work surface.

Steer away from flammable gases or liquids. Do not work when near with these materials. Always keep your work area clear from lacquer, thinner, paint, benzine, and even adhesive agents as coil nailers could produce spark when in use.

Be careful of double fire. Do not drive a nailer on your worksurface with strong force; framing nailers were designed to fire the necessary force needed to drive the nails on a surface, you don’t have to push the nailer further. After the re-coil, take the nailer completely off the worksruface. To avoid any undesirable double fire, simply pull the trigger and release it immediately and quickly for a clean trigger fire.

Disconnect hose when not in use as the coil nailers can accidentally fire. Immediately remove the nailer after use, during maintenance, and even when moving to another area.
