About Stanley Bostich Air Nailers
There is a truly incredible story wrapped in the history of Stanley Bostich. Founded in 1896 by Thomas Briggs, the company’s aim was innovation, quality, leadership and range. This was the first company to invent a wire stitcher which was user friendly, called the Roston wire stitcher, designed for calendars, fastening books, hat boxes, checks etc, it was quite useful. In 1903, the company invented a stapling machine to be operated by foot. In 1914, the first desk stapler model was invented. In 1924 the company was the first to introduce cemented strip staples. 1925 saw the manufacture of staples that were motor and foot operated. In the year 1930, they formed the Bostitch Sales Company to sell products under the same name. From 1941 -1945 they played a major part in the World War II by manufacturing parts and assembling the Browning automatic rifle. In the year 1948, they officially became the Bostitch Inc. and moved to East Greenwich, Rhode Island in 1957. The first coil nailer was introduced in 1965 followed by the framing nailer in 1970. The first coil roofing nailer was introduced in 1982and then in 1986 the Bostitch was acquired by The Stanley Works of new Britain, Connecticut from Textron.
