About Paslode Air Nailers
The history of Paslode began in 1935. It was founded by J. W. Leslie, an industrialist. The company was called Paslode because it described the product line: Packing, Shipping and Loading devices. Paslode is a division of ITW (Illinois Tool Works) which is a leading marketer and manufacturer of pneumatic fastening systems and cordless fastening systems for remodeling, industrial and construction applications. The initial products of Paslode were light weight staplers and stapling hammers. Later, Paslode was responsible for introducing the first upholstery tacker which was a light duty, pneumatic tool in 1959. This simple tool played a leading role in shaping the upward direction of the company. Paslode went in to full time development of pneumatic tools. Right after that they produced the pneumatic nailer, a first one that was commercially accepted. This was meant to increase productivity and reduce fatigue experienced by the workers.
In 1986, ITW acquired Paslode to help continue the evolution of power. They introduced the first cordless nailer in the world called Impulse nailer. After that they invented the Finish nailer which was meant to trim applications. It was durable and light-weight which made it easy to use in tight spots. They also developed the fastening systems in wood to steel in 1996. This helped secure the wood sheathing to studs of steel far faster than screws. It also provided better holding. They also developed high power tools likes paper tape collation nails, treated lumber nails, floorgrip fasteners etc.
